Publishing Your App
If you have reached this step, it means you have a mature app that is well tested and ready to be released for public use.
The actual steps to publish the app on Apple App Store, Google Play Store, or vendor-specific app stores (e.g., Samsung Galaxy Store, Xiaomi) may vary, but on a broader level, the majority of the steps would be common.
Create a Developer Account
All the stores have a prerequisite to have a developer account created on their respective developer console.
Create an App Project
Most app stores will have this step to create a new project for the app.
Describe Your App
You would be required to give a detailed description about your mobile app, its purpose, intended age group, business model, targeted global regions, etc.
Additional App Details
- You would be required to upload a few screenshots of your mobile app.
- A few app stores also typically ask for a demo usage video of the app.
- If the app requires user registration, sharing test user credentials is mandatory as part of the app submission.
- App logo in specific dimensions.
- App description, both long and short are required, as you want those to appear for your app listing.
- Information about explicit user permissions and justification for the need.
Mandatory Artifacts
All the app stores usually demand a URL to the following documents regarding the app usage:
- Terms of Use
- Privacy Policy
Upload the App Binary
Upload the signed binary of the app.
Submit for Review
Once all the necessary information is filled up and the artifacts are uploaded, the final step is to submit for review. The app store review team typically takes 3-5 business days to review the actual app functioning, suitability for use, and veracity of the information provided.
Publish
Once your app has passed the review phase, it is ready for release and to make it available for public use.
